Flow State is Chuan’s new monthly radio station in BAIHUI. He hopes to use this as an opportunity to discover some sounds that he (and other DJs) have neglected in the past, whether it be the low frequency reverberation made using FruityLoop, or the Max MSP series connection. The chaotic beats that he plays are probably not as powerful as his club set, but they are equally sincere.
In this first episode, Chuan searched through dozens of CD collections from IDM's golden age on Soulseek and tried his best to choose some music that is compatible in terms of melody and harmony. You can hear IDM giants like B12, Black Dog, and ambient techno heads like Waxworth Industries, Insync Vs Mysteron². In that era when the technology was still underdeveloped, these producers used all kinds of weird methods to exploit the potential of cheap synthesizers and samplers, blurring the boundary between dance and experimental music and also shaped the sound of IDM/ambient techno in the 90s with the UK being the core location for most of this music. If you are interested in these sounds, be sure to check out more from these producers and labels!
