Lawrence Lee, international resident DJ of .TAG, moved from New York to Berlin and quickly established deep connections within the local scene, carving out his own space that includes the record label A7A and the party series LUSH. Just a few days ago, his freshly released mix was published via ROOM LAB/ROOM TRAX, one of Berlin’s most in-depth and comprehensive music platforms, where it was described as “an unapologetic, self-assured sound.” In the Chinese context, this could refer to a style that is uniquely creative and expressed with strong confidence and authenticity.
Lawrence Lee has an Asian background. During the Lunar New Year in 2024, he spearheaded a meaningful celebration. He brought together a group of artists who also share an Asian cultural heritage to honor their roots and claim a space for Asian voices within Berlin’s cultural melting pot. They launched their first Lunar New Year–themed music project, “Sonic Abundance Longevity” (SAL), which included a grand Lunar New Year party. SAL also invited these artists to release a compilation — SAL_01 Lunar New Year Compilation — celebrating dialogue and diversity in sound. Our other resident DJ, Cora, also participated in this project.
