Since relocating from London, Wuhan-based DJ and musician, Jay Weights, has continued to passionately promote quality dance music. His earliest days as a DJ were spent playing Drum & Bass and UK Garage, but during 20 years’ of performing in the UK and China, his sets have never stayed confined to a particular genre.
As guitarist in the band, Sky King Jack, he regularly performs throughout China, blending dub, reggae, ska and rocksteady with jazz and funk music. This eclectic palette always informs his choices as a DJ, and he regularly marries together soulful elements to enrich bass-heavy sounds, regardless of whether he is fusing Disco, breakbeat, jungle, UKG or acid house.
As a DJ, having supported acts such as Spectrasoul, Jubei, Congo Natty, Lee Scratch Perry, Fracture & Neptune, DRS & MC Strategy, as well as the likes of Scuba and Stanton Warriors, he continues to enjoy pushing alternative and underground club music from around the world while still retaining a distinct UK musical identity.
