Music and scent are both intangible presences that drift through perception — impossible to truly grasp, yet quietly capable of filling spaces, emotions, and memories.
Together with BOUNDLESS, we launched the collaborative music incense sachet project Rise & Shine, hoping to explore the “smell of sound” and the “sound of scent” through a synesthetic approach. By allowing frequencies, air, touch, and
emotions to flow into one another — with the support of visual elements — we aim to create a sensory field that feels awake, vivid, and alive.
For this episode, we invited musician Close to perform a sunrise live set at Mu Ta Si Park in Xi’an. Accompanied by morning light, moving tree shadows, and the breeze in the air, we slowly awakened together with the people in the park — those exercising, dancing, strolling, and wandering through the morning. Everyday sounds such as footsteps, birdsong, and breathing naturally became part of the performance itself.
We hope this experiment in sound and scent brings you a moment of clarity and refreshment — like reconnecting with the morning all over again.
