Eastern Margins is a collective, label and community dedicated to platforming the sounds and stories of the Margins of East and South-East Asia and its diaspora. It completes the team's mission through music label, party activities, online live broadcast and regular radio program, song list planning and interview series.
In 2021, Eastern Margins and Boiler Room collaborated online to show the exchanges and cooperation between different generations of artists in Asia, and released a short film. They also cooperated with the Shanghai Community Radio SHCR to live broadcast, inviting 12 artists to participate in the joint completion of an open source music work to explore the unlimited possibilities of the community.
Eastern Margins also released the collection "Redline Legends" last year, celebrating the original and fast Hi-NRG electronic music from East and Southeast Asia, as well as recording the collection of various varieties and branches. You can hear Funkot from Malaysia, Vinahouse from Vietnam, Budots from the Philippines, Manyao from Malaysia and Singapore, and Bek Sloy from Cambodia.
There are four sessions in this four-hour Baihui Takeover. The first hour is a label show brought by JD X, Lumi, and Arya. All the songs played are from the albums and EPs we released since 2020. Arya as DJ and JD X and Lumi will bring you excellent commentaries. The second hour is the mix brought by Eastern Margins co-founder Anthony Ko. The third hour is the mix brought by Jex, Australia. The last hour is the mix brought by EM's latest member Khalisha.
